Amplified Alert: Stopp die Musik! The Queen In Me has something to say.
The Queen has feelings about being put on hold.
In a pandemic-free time her tale WILL be told.
She was meant to be singing her high notes on stage.
Instead empty theatres have thrown her into a rage!
While we all learn to listen rather than chatter,
the Queen lends her soapbox to causes that matter.
But THE QUEEN IN ME will prevail, never fear.
The show will go on as a 21/22 world premiere!
September 2020 marks the time when THE QUEEN IN ME was meant to have its world premiere in Toronto.
Since its conception in 2017 at the Emerging Creators Unit at Buddies, the work has developed as a part of various workshop performances with SummerWorks, Tapestry Opera, the ROM’s Friday Night Live, the Queer Arts Festival (Vancouver), AMPLIFY Inaugural Concert Series, and most recently with CBC Arts Presents Queer Pride Inside: A Buddies in Bad Times Cabaret.
Amplified Opera is still so excited to present this incredible show, in partnership with Nightwood, Theatre Gargantua, and Buddies, but at a later and safer date in the 21/22 season. Take a look at some performance and backstage moments of the workshop presentations on our website, or on performer/creator’s website, Teiya Kasahara or check out the following links for more photos, video reels and more!
